Russia has sold military tanks worth US $2.5 billion in 2016.

In 2016 Russia’s UralVagonZavod Corporation doubled its exports of tanks and armored vehicles, Rossiiskaya Gazeta wrote citing the company’s press service.

With 149.9 billion rubles (US $2.4 billion) in sales last year, UVZ is now set to enter the list of the world’s top 50 arms manufacturers, Sputnik reported Sunday.

India, in November 2016, cleared a proposal to acquire more than 1600 Russian T-90 tanks by 2020 for an approximate $2.1 billion due to delay in the manufacture of its indigenous Arjun MK II MBT. These tanks are expected to be deployed along line of control bordering Pakistan.

Russia has delivered dozens of T-90SA tanks to Algeria and about 60 T-72B tanks to Uganda. It also had agreed to deliver 170 T-72 tanks to Sudan and 39 T-72 tanks to Serbia. The deals are still to be implemented.

Kirgizia imported 70 BTR-70M vehicles in February. Bangladesh got a delivery of 60 of 330 BTR-80 wheeled amphibious Armored Personnel Carriers (APCs) in September 2016. Russia also delivered a batch of Tigr all-terrain armored combat vehicles to Slovakia.
