India’s locally developed Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas will be demonstrated during the country’s Republic day parade on January 26.

LCA Tejas is the first advance fly-by-wire (FBW) fighter aircraft designed, developed and manufactured in India. It has been designed and developed by Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) and produced by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

Besides LCA Tejas, the Republic Day fly past over Rajpath a ceremonial boulevard in capital city will also feature Mi-17 V5 helicopters, Mi-35 choppers, C-130J aircraft, MiG-21 Bison fighters, C-17 aircraft as well as the SU-30MKI, India TV reported, quoting various other media Thursday.

Tejas was inducted into Indian Air Force as part of Squadron No 45 (Flying Daggers) on July 1, 2016. The squadron operates the aircraft from Bangalore but will soon move to Sulur near Coimbatore.

LCA Tejas has a glass cockpit and it is equipped with a glass cockpit and satellite-aided Inertial Navigation System. It operates a computer-based attack system that can fire air-to-air missiles and deploy bombs as well as precision guided munitions.
