China’s new generation stealth fighter jet J-20 has been commissioned into the country’s Air Force.

Video footage from CCTV Channel 7 on Friday night showed J-20 fighters beiing operationalized into the PLA air force with Y-20 transport planes and H-6K bombers.

The J-20 made a two-minute public debut at the opening of Airshow China in Guangdong’s Zhuhai on November 1 without ground displays, flying over the show each day after taking off from an airfield in nearby Foshan, South China Morning Post reported.

Air force chief General Ma Xiaotian one day after the jet’s maiden flight said that the development of the J-20 fighter jet would be speeded up and it would be put into operation in the air force soon.

However, “it was likely that just a small number of J-20 jets had been produced due to engine problems.” Macau-based military observer Antony Wong Dong said.

“Technical and production problem of WS-15 engines, which were in the J-20, are not solved,” Wong said.

“The J-20 has not yet entered mass production progress, and now just a few limited aircraft are able to serve in the air force, similar to the Y-20.” Wong added.
