Lockheed Martin has been awarded two contracts worth $286 million from the US Missile Defense Agency for THAAD missile systems.

The US firm was awarded a contract worth $273,470,000 for the Missile Defense Agency Terminal High Altitude Area Defense Lot 9 Interceptors, the US Department of Defense announced Tuesday.

This contract provides for the production of Lot 9 Interceptors, one-shot devices, and associated production support efforts under fixed-price, incentive-firm target contract line item numbers, the statement said.  The performance period is from March 27, 2017, through March 31, 2020.

Lockheed Martin was also awarded a foreign military sales contract worth $11,770,930 to provide the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Terminal High Altitude Area Defense ground components.

According to the statement, the value of this contract is increased from $429,254,563 to $441,025,493.  This modification provides for the acquisition of UAE ground component spares as needed by UAE.

Work will be performed at Sunnyvale, California; Dallas and Lufkin, Texas; Huntsville, Alabama; and Camden, Arkansas, with an expected completion date of Oct. 31, 2018, the statement added.
