Skylark 2 unmanned aerial vehicle UAV

Israel's Skylark-model unmanned aerial vehicle crashed Tuesday in the south of the Gaza Strip.

The unnamed aerial vehicle fell in the south of the Gaza Strip. “The circumstances of the incident are being investigated," the Israeli army press service said on Tuesday.

The reason for the crash is still unclear, but the spokesperson said that they military is checking if a technical failure caused it.

It was the fifth time that an Israeli drone has been crashed since the beginning of 2017. An Israeli Skylark surveillance drone crashed on the Lebanese territory on May 22. A drone of the same model crashed in the Gaza strip in March.

On Thursday, a similar Skylark drone fell over the area of Bethlehem in the occupied West Bank.

The Skylark is a tactical surveillance drone manufactured by Elbit Systems and operated by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) ground forces units.

Israel has occupied the Gaza Strip and the West Bank in the 1967 Mideast War. Ever since, it has been controlling these territories ever since.
