Iraq has signed a deal with Russian Uralvagonzavod for the purchase of 73 T-90 main battle tanks (MBT).
Iraq currently operates, M1A1M Abrams purchased from US and Russian made T-72А/M and T-55 tanks.
The Iraqi Ministry of Defense confirmed the signing of the deal after lengthy negotiations with the Russian military officials.
Russia will also supply 64 T-90S/SK tanks to Vietnam this year.
T-90S is an export variant of T-90 third generation MBT. It has modern fire control system, steel and composite armor and is capable of fighting in all weather conditions. The MBT can also provide unit control and communication with command posts and can act in unit formations.
