Unfilled Cyber-security jobs in the US, which currently stand at 20,000 professionals, could touch 1.5 million by 2019, according to US Department of Labor Statistics.
A UPI report to announce the opening of Baltimore Cyber Range LLC and Elbit subsidiary Cyberbit Ltd., cyber-security training and simulation center in Maryland, quoted the statistics to illustrate the potential for cyber-security growth in the US.
Labor statistics highlight a critical shortage of capable IT and cybersecurity professionals. Data shows that more than 200,000 U.S. cybersecurity jobs are currently unfilled and the shortage is projected to grow to more than 1.5 million unfilled positions by 2019. This shortage presents a workforce issue for Maryland employers and Governments and creates employment opportunities for Maryland residents possessing appropriate cybersecurity skills, the company said in a statement.
