L-3 Chesapeake Sciences was awarded a $17 million modification contract for the production of TB-29X towed array assembly.

The contract also includes production of towed array receiver units, test sets and engineering services.  Work is expected to be complete by November 2019, US Department of Defense said in a statement Monday.

The TB-29X is a thin line towed array passive sonar receiver installed aboard Navy submarines.  The TB-29X array is in the same form factor as the TB-29 array; however, it offers increased capability, greater reliability and reduced obsolescence.
