Esterline Corporation has signed a contract with Thales Australia to supply with rugged displays and servers to be installed in the Hawkei Protected Mobility vehicles.

Thales chose Esterline’s rugged networked products for the vehicles after a rigorous extensive trials and technical information exchange sessions with the Esterline team, the company said in a statement Thursday.

The Hawkei PMV is a 7-tonne, next generation light 4 x 4 protected mobility vehicle with a 3-tonne payload originally designed to meet an Australian Defence Force (ADF) requirement for a light armoured patrol vehicle to replace some of its Land Rover Perentie variants.

In October 2015, the Australian Government announced the purchase of 1,100 Hawkeis from Thales Australia.
