Northrop Grumman Wins $130 Million to Supply Three Global Hawk Drones to Japan
Northrop Grumman has been awarded a $130 million contract for the Japan Global Hawk program.
This contract includes long lead material to initiate the program for three global hawk block 30 (I) surveillance air vehicles, two ground control elements, enhanced integrated sensor suite, spares, and a site survey, the US Department of Defense said in a statement Thursday.
Work will be performed in San Diego, California, and is expected to be complete by July 27, 2018.
This award is the result of a sole-source acquisition and includes foreign military sales to Japan. The RQ-4 Global Hawk is intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance unmanned aircraft system (UAS). Able to fly at high altitudes for greater than 30 hours, Global Hawk is designed to gather near-real-time, high-resolution imagery of large areas of land in all types of weather – day or night.
