BAE Systems Australia has selected local partner, Milspec Manufacturing to offer a Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (CRV) for Australian Army's largest ever vehicle replacement program, dubbed LAND 400 Phase 2 to replace the General Dynamics Land Systems (8x8) ASLAV.

BAE Systems is offering Patria's AMV35 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle that will be fitted with a Hagglunds CV9035 35 mm two-person turret.

Committed to producing the AMV35 locally, Milspec will manufacture Complex Electro Mechanical Subsystems, Power Systems and Electrical Wiring Harnesse, should it be selected as the preferred tenderer, the company press releasse said.

Rheinmetall MAN Military Vehicles' Boxer, equipped with a 35 mm Lance two-person turret, is another contender.

The Boxer and AMV35 are currently being put through their paces under a 12-month Risk Mitigation Activities (RMA) phase with the trials due to be completed late in 2017 and a contract for up to 225 vehicles scheduled for award in 2018; these will have a potential initial in-service date of 2021.
