Elta Awarded $39 Million for Counter UAS Systems
"Drone Guard": Drone Detection and Disruption Counter UAV Systems

Elta has been awarded a not-to-exceed $39 million contract action for counter unmanned aerial system supplies.

This contract provides counter unmanned aerial system in support of US Strategic Command joint emergent operational needs, the US department of defense said in a statement Thursday.

Work is expected to completed by March 27, 2018.  This contract was a sole-source acquisition.

Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) revealed the Drone Guard, new systems for drone detection, identification and flight disruption at the Singapore Airshow in 2016. Elta North America is a subsidiary of IAI.

In order to disrupt the hostile UAV, ELTA has developed adaptive jamming systems which can be used along with its detection and identification sensors, or as a continuously operated stand-alone system. The jamming disrupts the drone's flight and can either cause it to return to its point-of-origin (‘Return Home’ function) or to shut down and make a crash landing, according to the company website.
