Turkey’s BMC will deliver 85 armored vehicles to Qatar comprising mine-resistant, ambush-protected and multi-purpose 4 X4 vehicles.

BMC will produce 50 BMC Kirpi (Hedgehog) Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles and 35 BMC Amazon 4x4 multi-purpose armored vehicles for Qatar, Ethem Sancak, the head of BMC was mentioned as saying in a report by Anadolu Agency.

The value of the contract and delivery timeframe was not mentioned in the report.

BMC will commence production within the scope of Tuesday's export deal signed by BMC and Barzan Holding during the DIMDEX 2018 exhibition in the Qatari capital Doha.

"Previously, we sold our vehicles to Turkmenistani and Tunisian armies," Sancak said adding, "What we have planned for 2019 is to nearly export 40 percent of the production," Sancak said.

Turkey has been inching closer to Qatar ever since it supported the tiny Gulf nation in its spat with Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Bahrain. Turkey is building a base in Qatar and has conducted exercises with the Qatari Army in what is seen as a show of support to Doha.
