Turkey has signed a contract with BMC Otomotiv Wednesday for the purchase of 529 tactical wheeled vehicles (TWV).
Turkey has decided to work with BMC Otomotiv as a main contractor in the procurement of the items which are to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK), The Undersecretariat for Defense Industries (SSM) said in a statement this week.
The purchase of 529 tactical wheeled vehicles has been planned by the SSM in order to increase the operational capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces in areas where terrorist attacks have been carried out and that it has been decided to proceed with the domestic development project model in this project.
Activities carried out under the framework of the evaluation of the proposal submitted to the SSM have been completed and an agreement has been reached on cooperation with BMC Otomotiv as the main contractor for the project.
Following the completed negotiations, the TTA-2 Project Agreement was signed with a ceremony held at the SSM on Aug. 8. SSM stated that new KIRPI (Hedgehog) Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected vehicles will be supplied under the contract.
