Lockheed Martin Receives $522 Million Trident II Missile Support Contract

Lockheed Martin Space Systems is being awarded $522,324,985 modification to exercise options for Trident II (D5) submarine-launched ballistic missile production and deployed system support.

Work is expected to be completed Sept. 30, 2022, a US DoD announcement said.

The Trident II D5 is the latest generation of the US Navy's submarine-launched fleet ballistic missiles. First deployed in 1990, the Trident II D5 missile is currently aboard OHIO-class and British VANGUARD-class submarines.

Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company, the Navy's Trident missile prime contractor, developed and produced the missile and support equipment. The company also supplies technical and logistical support at sites where the missiles are deployed.

According to Lockheed Martin information, the Trident II D5 missile has achieved more than 160 successful test flights since design completion in 1989.
