Yemeni forces on Sunday fired seven ballistic missiles, including the newly launched short-range ballistic missile ‘Badr’, at the Saudi-led coalition, the Arabic-language al-Masirah television network reported.
The missile unit of the Yemeni army also fired two other homegrown missiles ‘Borkan H2’ and ‘Qaher M2’ on Sunday night at the King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Abha International Airport in Asir, and a local airport in Jizan region as well as some other areas in southern Saudi Arabia, it said.
Last week, the missile division of Yemen’s Army unveiled the new homegrown missile Badr that runs on solid fuel and travels at a speed of Mach 4.5, Saba reported Thursday.
Badr missile has been developed after “three years of steadfastness in the face of US-Saudi aggression, and in allegiance to the blood of martyrs,” the statement added.
Yemen’s Army says all Saudi Arabian facilities and targets are within the reach of its missiles.
Since March 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out deadly airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive former President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
