An Indian expatriate was hurt when Yemeni rebel forces fired a ballistic missile at a Saudi Arabian National Guard base in the kingdom’s southern Najran region.

Aden based Al-Masirah television reported Saturday identifying the missile as the short-range Badr-1. The report said that the missile attack had led to “losses in the ranks of the enemy and its military equipment.”

However, Saudi military spokesman Colonel Turki Al-Maliki said that at 10:16 AM on Saturday its air defense forces detected the launch of a ballistic missile from the territory of Yemen towards Saudi Arabia, Saudi media reported.

Colonel Al-Maliki also said that the missile was fired towards Najran region to target civilian and populated areas. The missile was intercepted and destroyed by the Saudi Royal Air Defense Forces. According to preliminary information, the missile interception resulted in a minor injury for an Indian expatriate.

On March 25, Houthi forces in Yemen fired seven missiles at Riyadh. Saudi Arabia had claimed to have successfully intercepted all seven but reported a civilian casualty when debris from the intercepted missile fell on a private property.
