Russian aircraft manufacturer Irkut Corporation announced its plan to conclude a new contract this year with the Russian Ministry of Defence for the supply of Su-30SM fighters.

"This year we plan to sign a new contract, which will ensure the loading of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant in the coming years at the level of 12-14 aircraft per year," President of United Aircraft Corporation and Irkut Corporation Yury Slyusar was quoted as saying by the Vedomosti newspaper.

He noted that the Su-30 family has good prospects in the foreign market as well: "the planes are sold to a large number of countries and, we hope, will be sold again".

Su-30SM multirole fighter is the further development of Su-30MKI and Su-30MKM combat aircraft. It is a multi-purpose “4++”-generation highly-maneuverable fighter designed for achievement of air supremacy.
