First TAI Hürku?-B Trainer Prototype To Be Delivered In November

The first prototype of Turkey's domestically developed training aircraft Hürkuş-B will reportedly be delivered to the country’s armed forces in November, according to a report by Daily Sabah.

Once delivered, the aircraft will be tested by the air force pilots and subjected to various assessments lasting a period of three months. The tests will be used to make improvements in the aircraft, which will in turn facilitate deliveries of 15 aircraft in first half of 2019.

Turkey’s Undersecretariat for Defence Industries (SSM) had earlier announced on Twitter that the deliveries of Hürkuş B aircraft prototypes were scheduled in June.

Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), Hürkuş-B is 100 kilograms lighter than Hürkuş-A, standing out as a faster, more modern and powerful aircraft. This variant was designed as a more stable and more comprehensive vehicle.

With the completion of successful test flight in February this year, the aircraft underwent other significant tests such as engine, avionics, stability, and flight test execution.

Praised as the best in its class, Hürkuş-B is equipped with systems similar to those in fighter jets in terms of its digital cockpit, pressurized cabin, ejection seat, oxygen support and landing gear.

The aircraft is being produced in order to meet the 15 new-generation trainer aircraft requirement of the Turkish Air Force.
