New destroyer, submarine to join Iranian Navy soon: Navy Commander

Iran will unveil a new destroyer and a medium-class submarine in the next week, Iran’s Navy commander revealed in a news conference Wednesday.

“Destroyer Sahand and Fateh Submarine will be unveiled in near future,” Rear Admiral Hossein Khanzadi told a news conference on Wednesday, Fars News Agency reported.

The destroyer could carry large helicopters as well as missile defense systems and fighter jets and the indigenously manufactured medium-class submarine “would serve as a surprise for the Islamic Republic’s enemies with its special capabilities,” PressTV quoted the senior Navy Commander as saying.
