General Dynamics has won a $35 million modification contract for research and development, and sustainment efforts for the US SSBN Fire Control Sub-system (FCS), the UK FCS and the US SSGN Attack Weapon Control System, including training and support equipment and US/UK Shipboard data system.

Work is expected to be completed by September 2019, United States Department of Defense said in a statement Thursday.

The fire control system delivers the information needed to control the launch sequence of ballistic missiles.
