Lockheed Martin has won a $585 million Missile Defense Agency (MDA) contract to design, develop and deliver its Homeland Defense Radar-Hawaii (HDR-H) in Oahu, Hawaii.
The HDR-H radar will provide autonomous acquisition, tracking and discrimination to optimize the defensive capability of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) and counter evolving threats, the company said in a statement Tuesday.
Long Range Discrimination Radar (LRDR) is a long range a Gallium Nitride (GaN)-based, solid-state Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) early-warning radar that will provide data to improve ballistic defense discrimination and replace existing sensors in the BMDS. LRDR will improve the effectiveness of ground based interceptors, According to Lockheed Martin.
