Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has completed exporting the 100th domestically-developed Wing Loong Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.

The state-run manufacturer started to export the Wing Loong series in 2010. The UAV is used in anti-terrorist operations, security patrols and aerial detection.

Though it is not specified, the exports comprise of Wing Loong I and Wing Loong II Medium-Altitude Long-Endurance combat drones.

The drones are in active operations in Algeria, Egypt, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Nigeria, Pakistan, Serbia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Uzbekistan.

In October 2018, Pakistan Aeronautical Complex and Chengdu Aircraft Corporation announced that they would jointly produce 48 Wing Loong II UAVs for use in the Pakistan Air Force.

The company on Sunday launched the Wing Loong I-D, the latest member of the UAS family. It said the 30-minute maiden flight was successful. The fuselage of new model is completely built with composite material.

The Wing Loong UAS series is developed by the Chengdu Aircraft Design and Research Institute under AVIC in southwest China’s Sichuan Province.
