Installation of Iron Fist Light (IFL) Active Protection System (APS) on the United States (US) Army's Bradley armoured fighting vehicle has advanced to Phase II, RADA said in a statement Monday.

The team providing the system comprises General Dynamics Ordnance and Tactical Systems (GD-OTS), Elbit Systems, RADA Electronic Industries and Israel Military Industries (IMI).

The IFL system is a lightweight APS for armored and tactical platforms. RADA’s software defined radars identify and track incoming threats and then intercepts it by launching a small warhead and activating it at a safe distance from the protected platform at a precisely calculated moment, defeating the threat through a shock-wave effect, according to the company.

Phase II is expected to continue for the next two years, RADA stated.
