Northrop Grumman has won $149.6 million modification contract to exercise Option Year One for Battlefield Airborne Communications Node, payload operations and sustainment.

This modification brings the total cumulative value of the contract to $336.8 million. Work is expected to be completed on Jan. 23, 2020, the United States department of defense said in a statement Tuesday.

The Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) combined with Global Hawk, provides warfighters essential information to pursue and defeat the enemy.

BACN’s Airborne Executive Processor (AEP) enables a persistent Gateway in the sky that receives, bridges, and distributes communication among all participants in a battle.
