The US Navy has awarded a $17.7 million worth contract to Boeing for procurement of additional two F/A-18E/F twin-engine, carrier-capable, multirole fighter aircraft, the Department of defense announced Friday.
According to the release, a $17,777,048 modification “increases the ceiling of the contract to procure up to an additional quantity of two F/A-18E/F aircraft, modified to extend the service life of the aircraft”.
Work will be performed in St. Louis, Missouri; and El Segundo, California, and is expected to be completed in October 2020.
The Super Hornet is able to carry air-to-air missiles and air-to-surface weapons.
