American company Harris Corp has won a $43.2 million modification contract for additional electronic warfare equipment on Kuwait's F/A-18s fleet.

The contract includes procurement of additional Integrated Defensive Electronic Countermeasures AN/ALQ-214 A(V)4/5 Onboard Jammer systems for the aircraft, US Department of Defense said in a statement Friday.

Kuwait will use the aircraft for homeland defence and replace its ageing aircraft.

The F-18 Super Hornet is a twin-engine, multirole fighter capable of carrying air-to-air and air-to-surface missiles. It is available in single-seat (F/A-18E) and tandem-seat (F/A-18F) variants.
