General Dynamics unveiled the prototype of the US Army’s Stryker A1 IM-SHORAD, and announced that its Stryker A1 MCWS is ready for production, at the ongoing Annual Meeting & Exposition of the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) in Washington.

“Today marks the public debut of the Stryker A1 IM-SHORAD prototype,” General Dynamics (GD) announced in a tweet.

The Stryker A1 IM-SHORAD vehicle supports the Army’s short-range air defense (SHORAD) operational gap. Armed with Hellfire missiles, Stinger missiles and a 30mm cannon, its precision fire-power defeats unmanned aerial systems as well as fixed wing and rotary wing threats.

The company also announced that its Stryker A1 Medium Caliber Weapon System (MCWS) would now enter production after successful testing. Stryker A1 MCWS is the next generation of the Stryker Infantry Carrier Vehicle Dragoon (ICVD). It features a 30mm cannon mounted on a combat-proven Double-V Hull chassis.

“The Stryker A1 Medium Caliber Weapon System (MCWS) successfully live fired its 30mm cannon during testing and is ready to go into production today,” GD said.
