Russia Completes Training of Chinese Pilots of Mi-171

Rostec announced it completed training of Chinese pilots of Mi-171 helicopters, on Monday.

“Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant trained pilots (of Mi-171) from China,” Rostec said in a tweet.

“The specialists were trained to perfect their day and night flight skills under all-weather conditions with simulated failures of engines and other systems of the Mi-171 helicopter,” the state-owned defense firm said.

China has ordered 12 Mi-171 rotorcraft equipped with VK-2500-03 engines certified this April, from Russia. One helicopter was delivered last month, reports TASS.

Russian Helicopters expects completion of the validation procedure for the certificate of Mi-171A2 helicopter in China in 2020.

"Work is underway to validate the Mi-171A2 helicopter type certificate. All the materials required to complete the certification procedure were send to the Civil Aviation Administration of China and accepted for work. Obtainment of the certificate is expected in 2020," said an official from the company.
