Raytheon Awarded $29M for Jordan’s Fire Support C2 System

Raytheon has won a $29.2 million contract for procurement of Jordan’s Advanced Field Artillery Tactical Data System (AFATDS).

The AFATDS Fire Support Command and Control (C2) system provides automated support for planning, coordinating, controlling and executing fires and effects. It supports weapon systems such as mortars, field artillery cannons, rockets, close air support, attack helicopters, and Naval Surface Fire Support (NSFS) systems.

According to Raytheon, AFATDS prioritizes targets received from various sensors and performs attack analysis using situational data combined with commander's guidance. The system provides complete flexibility to manage attacks on pre-planned and time-sensitive targets.

Work pertaining to the contract will be performed in Fort Wayne, Indiana, with an estimated completion date of Oct. 31, 2024.

In late February, the United States approved Foreign Military Sale of 700 AFATDS software license copies and related equipment to Jordan for an estimated $300 million. The proposed upgrade will allow the Jordan Armed Forces (JAF) to fire Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System-Alternative Warhead (GMLRS-AW) rockets using a digital fire control system.  The expansion will ensure uniformity among all indirect fire systems used by the JAF.  The upgrade and expansion of the AFATDS fire control system will allow the JAF to defend its borders and ground forces with indirect fire weapon systems.
