Airbus Defence has received 50th A330 jet to be converted into A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) plane for NATO multinational MRTT fleet.
“We've just received from Airbus the 50th A330 to be converted into a A330 MRTT. This MSN 1982 will be for the MMF NATO’s Support & Procurement Agency (NSPA),” the company said in a tweet today.
In late September, Airbus received a firm order for an Airbus A330 MRTT from OCCAR. The order, which OCCAR has placed on behalf of NSPA follows the decision from Luxembourg to maximize its participation into the Multinational MRTT Fleet (MMF) programme with a significant increase from 200 to 1,200 the number of flight hours contracted.
The order comes after the successful delivery of the first two aircraft, with training and operational activities already in place. The aircraft will be configured for in-flight refuelling, the transport of passengers and cargo, and medical evacuation operations.
