The EU Commission today selected a consortium led by Naval Group Belgium for its Mine Risk Clearance for Europe (MIRICLE) project.

The project win was awarded by the company on Twitter Wednesday. “The EU Commission selects the consortium led by Naval Group Belgium for MIRICLE project. The top 19 partners working together in the consortium will strengthen capabilities in mine countermeasures for harsh environment and evolving threats,” Naval Group said.

The MIRICLE project addresses the main components of a stand-off mine warfare solution such as a mission system, communication network, Mine Countermeasures (MCM) vessel and robots, using artificial intelligence for supporting decision making. It will enable significant improvements to carry out all MCM missions.

“These innovations will complement the main components of mine warfare, made up of Mine Counter Measure (MCM) vessels, unmanned vehicles and robots (“Toolbox”), the mission system, the communication network and artificial Intelligence-powered decision making,” the company added.
