U.S. Navy Awards Fluor Marine $1.16B for Naval Nuclear Engines

The U.S. Navy awarded Fluor Marine Propulsion LLC a contract worth $1.16 billion for naval nuclear propulsion work at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory.

The deal modifies a contract awarded in July 2018 that included options that, if exercised, would bring the total value of the contract to approximately $15 billion.

The contract funds work on naval nuclear propulsion technology, including the research, design, construction, testing, operation, maintenance and ultimate disposition to support operation of the country's aircraft carrier fleets.

The Naval Nuclear Lab consists of personnel at the Bettis and Knolls Atomic Power Laboratories, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, Naval Reactors, and NTPU Charleston Facility. For over 70 years, it has developed advanced naval nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation’s submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program and is comprised of over 7,500 engineers, scientists, technicians and support personnel.
