Izhevsk Electromechanical Plant ‘Kupol’ of Russia, the manufacturer of Tor-M short-range air defense system, has supplied cooling systems to the ‘Ruppur’ Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) in Bangladesh.

IEMZ Kupol is part of Russia’s Almaz-Antey VKO Concern. A separate workshop has been created at the facility to produce cooling systems.

During an interview with Interfax news agency, Alexander Vedrov, deputy general director at Almaz-Antey revealed, "We have already equipped several nuclear power plants including those abroad - for example, Bangladesh’s Ruppur NPP and Turkey’s Akkuyu NPP.”

Ruppur will be the country's first nuclear power plant, and the first of two units are expected to go into operation in 2023. The VVER-1200/523 Nuclear reactor and critical infrastructure are being built by the Russian Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation.
