Engine of French Air Force’s Extra 330 Aircraft Fails
French Air Force Extra 330 aircraft made emergency landing on October 17, 2021, in a field after one of its engines failed.

The French Ministry of Defense announced that an Extra 330 aircraft suffered a minor accident on Sunday after one of its engines failed.

“On Sunday, October 17, 2021, around 10:10 a.m., near Mirande, an extra 330 two-seater aircraft from the French Air Force's aerobatic team encountered an engine failure,” the ministry said in a statement.

The aircraft was flying from Biarritz to Salon-de-Provence when the incident took place. Captain Alexandre Orlowski, pilot of the aerobatic team of the Air and Space Army, reigning French champion, ex- aerobatic world champion and former Mirage 2000-5 pilot, accompanied by his mechanic, made an emergency landing in a field near Mirande.

A rescue operation was immediately launched. The French authorities are currently investigating the incident.
