Hit by Ukrainian Missile, Ammunition explodes abroad Russian Missile Cruiser, ‘Moskva,’

 A fire abroad the Russian Missile Cruiser, Moskva on Wednesday night seriously damaged the warship, said to be the flagship of the Black Sea fleet.

The Ukrainian military has hit the Russian cruiser Moskva by Neptune missiles, causing serious damage to the warship. Maksym Marchenko, the head of the Odesa regional military administration, announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.
"It has been confirmed that the missile cruiser Moskva went today exactly where it was sent by our border guards on Snake Island. The Neptune missiles guarding the Black Sea caused very serious damage to the Russian ship," Marchenko said.
The Russian Ministry of Defense (MoD) announced this morning that the cause of the fire was the detonation of ammunition and that all crew have been safely evacuated. The cause of the fire is not known at the moment.

  "As a result of a fire, ammunition detonated on the Moskva missile cruiser. The ship was seriously damaged. The crew was completely evacuated," the Russian MoD said in a statement adding, "The cause of the fire is under investigation."

At the time of the incident, the warship was some 25 nautical miles from Serpant Island in the Black sea and in combat mode due to the war with Ukraine. Some reports claimed that a Ukrainian missile struck the ship.

However, topwar.ru, a Russian publication reported that the warship was equipped with air defense system which would have got activated and launched a missile at the incoming missile.

The publication also reported that the fire prevention system abroad the missile cruise had not been modernised while that of its sister ship, Marshal Ustinov was done.

The ship is equipped with 16 anti-ship missiles of the P-1000 Vulkan complex with a range of at least 700 km. In addition, the warship also armed with S-300 Fort long-range air defense systems, which allows it to protect an entire area or squadron from enemy attacks.

Just yesterday, Russian MoD reported the destruction of a Ukrainian Bayraktar drone that was reportedly spying on Russian warships in the Black Sea.
