Denmark’s Leopard 2A7 tanks have reportedly been seen being loaded on to ships headed for Poland at the port of Esbjerg.
Denmark is sending 14 Leopard 2A7 tanks to Eastern Europe to participate in the international "Defender Europe 22" exercises, Russian news outlet topwar.ru reported.
The exercise will be under the command of V Corps of the U.S. Army. As part of the exercises, interaction between allies and partners of the United States and NATO will be worked out.
Poland is now a logistics hub for the transfer of weapons to Ukraine, so no one will notice the appearance of an "extra" couple of dozen tanks, the report said.
Another possibility could be that these Leopard 2A7 tanks are intended for the Polish army in exchange for the Soviet T-72M1 transferred to Ukraine. Such an exchange was supposedly promised to Warsaw by Berlin. But here the tanks are Danish, not German, and the "exchange" scheme itself has not yet worked.
By the way, it is not known how Germany was going to transfer its tanks in exchange for Soviet ones supplied to Ukraine, if the Bundeswehr itself declares an acute shortage of heavy armored vehicles.
Poland handed over more than 230 tanks to Ukraine, and Slovakia and the Czech Republic which are also in line for the "exchange," the report said.
