Russia’s Uralvagonzavod handed over upgraded BRM-1K combat reconnaissance vehicles to the Russian defense ministry.
As part of the work, the company's specialists replaced the base fighting compartment with a unified one - the BTR-82A, as well as the engine of the combat vehicle, communications equipment and on-board electronics. Additionally, during the modernization, the commander's combat reconnaissance vehicle received navigation equipment, reconnaissance equipment and surveillance devices, state-owned Rostec said in a statement.
The updated command combat reconnaissance vehicle BRM-1K is designed to conduct military reconnaissance day and night as part of reconnaissance groups operating at a depth of 50 to 80 km from their troops. The combat vehicle provides detection of camouflaged targets, including in conditions of limited visibility, determination and transmission of target coordinates. In addition, it is capable of hitting open and covered enemy manpower, while protecting the crew from heavy machine guns, small-caliber automatic cannons, and fragments of ground (field) artillery shells.
The technical capabilities of the machine allow it to force water barriers afloat without carrying out preliminary preparatory work.
