Naval Group has identified MEVACO as a key supplier for mechanical systems and metalwork equipment for the Hellenic Navy’s FDI HN frigates.

Greece and Naval Group in March 2022 signed contracts for three defense and intervention frigates, plus one optional, and their in-service support. Two FDI HN frigates will be delivered in 2025 and the third one in 2026.

Within the scope of the framework agreement, MEVACO will procure part of the mast, hull and mobile equipment, the company said in a release Thursday.

The Framework Agreement with MEVACO illustrates the French-Hellenic cooperation dynamic also structured by the partnership agreement signed between GICAN (French Marine Industry Group) and SEKPY (association of Hellenic Defence Manufacturers) in February 2020.

As per Naval Group, FDI HN frigates will have length and width of 122m and 18m respectively. It will have a displacement of 4,500 tons, maximum speed of 27 knots and will be able to a host 10-ton class helicopter and a VTOL UAV. The frigates come armed with 32 Aster missiles, 8 Exocet MM40 B3C missiles, RAM missiles, MU 90 torpedoes, a 76 mm gun, 4 torpedo tubes and CANTO counter measures.
