The Russian air defense forces shot down their own Ka-52 attack helicopter in Kherson, Ukrainian military has claimed.
Three “enemy” Ka-52s fired missiles against Ukrainian Army positions in Olginoy, inflicting casualties on both sides. One of them was then shot down by the Russian forces accidentally, Ukraine’s Operational Command South said in a Facebook post July 27.
“The (Russian) occupiers' helicopters came under ‘friendly’ fire from the frightened air defense calculations of the Russian troops. Russian air defense has never been distinguished by accuracy, so the invaders shot down only one of their Ka-52 strike out of three. A pity,” the Ukrainian military mocked.
A Ka-52 Alligator helicopter costs about $15 million, as per reports.
The military added that X-31 (Kh-31) missiles fired from Russian Su-34 jets was destroyed by Ukrainian air defenses in Bashtanka.
