China today announced conclusion of the tri-services military exercises that were held around the island of Taiwan.
The exercises, held following the visit of a U.S. house speaker, Nancy Pelsoi led to the closure of the airspace around the island.
"The Chinese PLA Eastern Theater Command said it had successfully completed various missions during recent drills around Taiwan island and effectively tested the troops' joint operation combat capacity. The command will regularly organize combat readiness patrols in Taiwan Straits," a statement published on the semi-official Global Times said.
China had earlier said it would carry out the exercises until Taiwan agreed to its unification proposal.
