Raytheon Company was awarded a $182,295,333 contract for the procurement of National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAM) for Ukraine.
Work will be performed in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, with an estimated completion date of Aug. 23, 2024. Fiscal 2022 Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative funds in the amount of $182,295,333 were obligated at the time of the award. U.S. Army Contracting Command, Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, is the contracting activity.
The U.S. announced the donation of six NASAM batteries to Ukraine on August 24 to add to the two committed as part of Washington's security assistance. In addition, munitions for the NASAMS will be delivered as part of a separate aid package.
However, so far none of the NASAMS committed to Ukraine have been delivered. The advanced air defense systems are expected to be a game changer for Ukraine in that they will be able to track and destroy Russian fighter aircraft and missiles which currently dominate the skies over Ukraine.
