The U.K. Royal Navy has placed an order for three REMUS 100 unmanned underwater vehicles (UUVs) to the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy.

REMUS 100 UUVs are produced by Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII).

With these new systems, the U.K.’s Ministry of Defence has acquired a mix of REMUS 100s and REMUS 600s used for mine countermeasure operations over the last 20 years. The Ministry of Defence’s first two REMUS 100s, acquired in 2002, are still in operation today.

Remote Environmental Measuring Units (REMUS) 100 is primarily used in marine research, defence, hydrographic and offshore energy applications. It can be used in a range of missions, including mine countermeasures, harbour security, debris field mapping, search and salvage, hydrographic surveys, environmental monitoring, fishery operations and scientific sampling and mapping.
