Russia’s Ministry of Defense on Monday halted all partial military mobilization activities.
"All activities related to conscription of reservists for military service by military enlistment offices and regional governments have been halted. The preparation and handing out of military summonses are now stopped," the ministry said in a statement.
Reports on the wrapping up of the partial mobilization will be submitted by November 1, and instructions on the issue have been sent to commanders of troops in the military districts and the commander of the Northern Fleet.
Military units will only be accepting volunteers and contractors from now on, the statement continued.
Assembly centers and other buildings that were used for the mobilization effort will now be used for their previous purposes and military enlistment offices will go back to their routine duties.
The MoD said the enlistment offices will only enlist volunteers and contract servicemen for the armed forces.
On October 28, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu told President Vladimir Putin that the partial mobilization, which had started on September 21, was completed. Shoigu said 300,000 people had been called up, and no further goals were being planned as part of the partial mobilization.
The “partial mobilization” of citizens to against Ukraine has been beset by errors, caused angry protests and prompted a mass exodus since it was announced in September. Countless Russians have reportedly fled the country. As per reports, more than 200,000 people traveled from Russia into Georgia, Kazakhstan and the European Union (EU) in just the first week.
