Russia has destroyed five Ukrainian warehouses, destroying around 7,000 foreign-made artillery shell, or nearly the same number of shells fired by Ukrainian forces against Moscow in Donbas in a day.

One of the warehouses is in Dnepropetrovsk, while the other four are located in the Zaporozhye region.

"In the vicinity of the city of Dnepropetrovsk, an ammunition depot was destroyed, which stored more than 100 HIMARS multiple rocket launchers and more than 7,000 foreign-made large-caliber artillery shells," Russian Defense Ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov said at a briefing on Sunday.

"Four depots of rocket and artillery weapons of the Zaporizhzhia group of troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were destroyed near the settlement of Razumovka, Zaporozhye region," he said.

A senior NATO official was quoted as saying by The New York Times that the Ukrainians were firing 6,000 to 7,000 artillery rounds each day in the Donbas region last summer, whereas the Russians were firing 40,000 to 50,000 rounds per day. By comparison, the U.S. produces only 15,000 rounds each month.

Konashenkov added that two rockets of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system were shot down near the village of Bogdanovka, Kherson region, by means of air defense.

"In addition, an Excalibur guided artillery shell was intercepted in the area of the village of Miropol, Sumy region," he added.
