Germany’s Kraus-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) has started producing RCH 155 Boxer remotely-controlled howitzers for Ukraine.
“Sometimes combining two proven solutions in a new concept can be revolutionary while avoiding significant risk. Boxer RCH155 production for Ukraine has commenced,” Advisor to KMW Nicholas Drummond announced in a Twitter post.
In September, Berlin reportedly approved the €216 million sale to Ukraine of 18 of these latest self-propelled guns, on Kyiv’s request. Germany’s Federal Government announced the preparation of the howitzers for Ukraine earlier this month.
The RCH-155 is a wheeled self-propelled artillery platform with an L52 155mm cannon, boasting an operational range of up to 54km when using V-LAP precision projectiles. The howitzer can accelerate up to 100 kmph and travel up to 700km between refueling.
