Canada’s Roshel has reportedly supplied over a hundred units of Senator armored personnel carrier to Ukraine’s military and Chernihiv border guards.

The delivery was part of Ottawa’s military aid to Ukraine; with the support of patrons from Eastern Europe, Ukrainian outlet Suspilne News reported.

The Senator is a newly developed armored vehicle designed for law enforcement and border patrol use. It has eight landing places for the landing party. The armored vehicle is powered by a 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel engine with a capacity of 330 horsepower and 750 Nm of torque.

"It's a pretty good vehicle, maneuverable. Even if you compare it with the ‘Cossack’, it's even a little better. Its weight is 8 tons. The wheels have ‘dockets’ inside, even if it breaks, it will be able to continue moving. It has a six-liter diesel biturbo engine, an automatic transmission. It's a wonderful car, it will be used by border units to protect our borders. It is fully armored," Kyrylo, an officer of the 105th Border Detachment Car and Armored Service, was quoted as saying by the report.

The company said the body of the vehicle has been specifically designed to incorporate advanced heat and noise insulation materials providing an uncompromised level of comfort to its occupants. The vehicle is fully air-conditioned for comfort use in harsh environments.

The Senator’s perimeter armoring of the passenger compartment and engine bay is designed to provide protection up to CEN B7 ballistic protection level, but the Senator’s armor withstands stronger impact. The floor is fitted with blast protection to defend occupants in case of a simultaneous explosion of 2 DM-51 German ordnance hand grenades or equivalent light anti-personnel mines.
