Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said delays in the supply of weapons caused by Ukraine War has pushed the Balkan country to shift focus on production of drones.
"In the coming period, we will focus our production first of all on unmanned aerial vehicles and drones. <…> The conflict in Ukraine has had an adverse effect on us, because we cannot import weapons and equipment as we planned and paid for. So, we must reorient our own capacities as soon as possible," he said after attending a meeting with Defense Minister Milos Vucevic and Chief of the General Staff Milan Mojsilovic.
Vucic said earlier that Serbia planned to launch serial production of kamikaze drones at the Utva enterprise, a subsidiary of Yugoimport, from April 2023. He noted that the "present-day warfare has changed a lot" and Serbia must undertake efforts to catch up with the current trends in drone technologies.
