Rostec Starts Production of High-grade Assault Body Armor

Oktava plant, a subsidiary of state-owned Rostec State has launched the production of the Obereg assault vests.

The equipment provides reliable protection against fragmentation shells and bullets, does not hinder movement. The trial batch has already been tested by combat in the NWO zone. The capacities of the Tula enterprise allow to produce up to 2 thousand products per quarter with a subsequent increase in volumes.

The elements of the "Amulet" are made of aramid fabric, the chest part is equipped with a ceramic plate of class Br5, the back is protected by a plate with a ballistic package of class Br5. In addition, all sections, including the side ones, have anti-fragmentation and anti-ricochet layers placed in moisture-proof covers. The protection class of the side sections in the basic configuration is Br1, if desired by the customer, it can be replaced by Br3.

“Oberig has been successfully tested and is ready for serial production. Now we are ready to produce up to 2,000 body armor per quarter, with plans to increase supplies to 7,500 items per quarter,” said Alexander Nazarov, Deputy General Director of Rostec State Corporation.

The body armor is equipped with additional shoulder protection, neck and groin protection, and is supplied with a set of open and closed pouches for the location of the combat kit and other ammunition items. The weight of the "Charm" is 9.1 kg, the weight is evenly distributed and moderately loads the spine. The plates are arranged in such a way that they protect vital organs, do not hinder movement and allow you to maintain mobility.

"Charm" is made of 1000D Cordura nylon fabric with water-repellent impregnation with polyurethane coating. Equipment, as well as bulletproof vest covers, can be made in classic, pixel and plain versions.

Today we continue the large-scale work to preserve the key competencies and the production cycle of a strategic enterprise, which began in 2017. The company upgraded business processes, strengthened the team of designers and the sales function. One of the measures that allows us to retain personnel and develop the potential of the plant is the expansion of the range of products and the reorientation of sales markets. Bullet-proof vest "Oberig" is an initiative development of "Oktava".

“The company began to create it, seeing the urgent need for this ammunition with the beginning of the SVO. The already existing own sewing production and relevant skills made it possible to launch the production of these products in the shortest possible time. The high protective properties of body armor were confirmed by tests - the samples withstood the hit of cartridges ranging from pistol ammunition (first class of protection) to armor-piercing machine-gun cartridge B32 (fifth class). At the same time, the quality of ammunition protection remains unchanged even in extreme conditions - in water and at temperatures ranging from minus 40 to plus 40 degrees Celsius,” said Semyon Yakubov, General Director of RT-Capital LLC.

The bulletproof vest has certificates of compliance with the requirements of GOST for protective properties and bullet resistance.
