Slovenia’s defense ministry has placed an order for four Air Tractor AT-802F Fire Boss firefighting aircraft.
Defense Minister Marjan Šarec signed a contract with manufacturer Air Tractor for the purchase of four such planes on April 17. He said the decision to buy these new aircraft was made shortly after last year's fire in the Karst.
First two aircraft will be handed over to the ministry in June while the other two will be delivered next year.
Each such plane can carry up to 3,100 liters of water. It can also take off on short and unpaved runways. The plane will be able to collect water from the sea or lakes, like the canard, or they will fill their water tank during a stop at the airport.
